Mexico’s relaunched Mexicana airline has ordered 20 E2 jets from Embraer, becoming the first to operate the model in Mexico as it continues to grow its fleet and destinations.
The notable deal will see 10 E190-E2s and 10 E195-E2s delivered to the state-owned airline from Q2 2025, with capacities of 108 and 132 seats respectively.

Priscilla Doro Solymossy, head of Latin America and the Caribbean for Embraer Commercial Aviation, said: “We welcome Mexicana to the E2 family, the first E2 operator in Mexico.
“Seeing the success and rapid growth Mexicana has achieved since it restarted operations in December 2023 has been remarkable.”
Mexicana, which was relaunched by the Mexican Government in December 2023, said that the new fleet would allow it to strengthen connectivity with more domestic and international destinations.
The introduction of international routes would be a significant move for the airline, which currently only operates within Mexico, flying to 18 cities from its Mexico City hub.

While the new order may be a sign of confidence for the airline, its launch has not been without troubles thanks to a $840m contract dispute embroiling the company after SAT Aero Holdings alleged that the government had reneged on its responsibilities while launching operations.
